This is truly one of my favorite times of year!  I’ve been spending the last couple months in my garden prepping for a busy summer ahead.  With all this time spent in the garden preparing for the next season, I’ve been reflecting on ways I can help my clients transition between the seasons more gracefully.  In that spirit, I want to share some of my wealth of knowledge around seasonal health with each of you!  I hope that you will learn a thing or two and also share in a community of like-minded people who are reaching for their best health.

As we have a couple weeks left in spring, I’m sharing some seasonal recipes and detox tips from Carrie L’Esperance’s The Seasonal Detox Diet.  Spring is the time where we focus on detoxing our liver and gallbladder.  And, I can assure you that even with just a few weeks left in this season, it’s not too late!  With a few easy commitments, you can help cleanse your liver and gallbladder and transition to summer with ease.

The Energy Bomb Breakfast (serves 1)

The enzymes and nutrients in the Energy Bomb Breakfast will promote hormone vitality and boost the body-mind functions for the day.  The added whey increases vitamin and mineral content.

1 Cup Organic Soy or Oat Milk
3 – 6 Raw Almonds
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1/8 tsp Nutmeg
1 Tbsp Whey Powder
1/4 Banana or Apple (optional)

Combine all ingredients, blend vigorously and enjoy!

Simple Liver and Gallbladder Flush

This is a simplified liver and gallbladder flush that would be great to do before the end of spring!  To do the flush, fast for 24 – 48 hours on raw organic apple juice.  Each day, cleanse the colon with a coffee and vinegar internal cleanse (see below for recipe and a link to instructions).  Before bed on the last day of your fast, mix 1/2 cup olive oil and 1/3 cup hot apple, lemon or grapefruit juice and consume.  Before going to sleep, make sure to lie on your right side for 30 minutes.  In the morning, you should pass any softened stones.  After your fast, return to a normal, sensible daily diet and supplement with liver support teas (see recipe below) or herb capsules.  If you’re not up to doing this flush, you could replace it with Advanced Naturals LiverMax 30-day cleanse (see below for discount).

Sample Liver Flush Seed Tea

2 tsp Fennel, Anise or Fenugreek Seed
2 Cups Pure Water

Simmer ingredients for 15 minutes in a stainless steel or glass pot, covered.  Let sit for 15 more minutes then strain and enjoy!

Coffee and Vinegar Internal Cleanse Recipe:
2 Tbsp Organic Costa Rican Coffee
2 Cups Pure Water
2 Tbsp Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
